3600 iPad mini tablets stolen at NY airport

News

Two thieves have stolen 3,600 Apple iPad minis from New York?s JFK airport just before midnight on Monday local time,?in a heist worth US$1.5 million.

According to The New York Post, the criminals loaded two pallets of the 7in tablets onto a truck using one of the airport?s forklifts and despite questioning from an airport worker escaped with the goods.

Investigators believe the theft was an inside job, questioning three airport staff members with a polygraph test.

?Sources believe someone let them into the area and then let them out after they grabbed the iPads,? the report states.

The thieves are currently still at large.

Apple products have been a prominent target of thieves in 2012, with a ram-raid attack in September leaving?a California Apple Store in a mangled mess and a New York Police Department report highlighting a 40 percent rise in Apple product-related crime.
